Fall Back to School Dates -- And just as we’re finishing up this year, we start looking ahead to NEXT year! As you look at the dates below for the start of school, you’ll notice that we have a little different schedule for the first few days. While our Meet the Teacher date is before Labor Day, school will actually officially begin with ALL students reporting for the opening day on September 3. This is the Tuesday following Labor Day. This schedule change was mandated by the Diocese of Manchester Catholic Schools office and will be the same throughout all Catholic schools is NH. We hope you enjoy the extra few days of summer vacation!

PreK/Kdg Play Dates: Mondays from August 5 through August 26

Meet the Teacher: 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29

1st Day of School for all students: Tuesday, September 3

UPDATED! Lifetouch Spring Portraits....and a Bike Raffle! – Please remember that if you are not intending on ordering a portrait package from Lifetouch, you must return the proof to the school so we can send it back to Lifetouch. If ALL of our parents either order portraits OR return their proof to us by May 17, Lifetouch will give us a new bicycle to be raffled as part of our Field Day festivities! So far, we are at a 69% return/order rate for our portraits. Please return or order ASAP!

NEW! No Crossing Guard – Nashua has informed us that they will be unable to provide a crossing guard for Manchester Street in front of the church for either the morning or afternoon through the end of the school. Our teachers on afternoon “Walker” duty will have the crossing sign and will assist in getting students across the street. However, there will be no one available during the morning hours. We ask that parents assist their children in crossing the street during the morning hours. Thanks!

Admissions News:

We are continuing to look for new families to join our school community for Fall 2019!  History shows that our current happy families are our best resource for bringing in new students and we’d love to partner with YOU in this effort! A number of external factors, including full day Kindergarten in Nashua and other towns, area charter schools, and decreased birth rates make upcoming Admissions efforts very challenging, but very important for keeping our school full of happy children! Please consider helping us bring in new students:

Promote Our Open House for Prospective Students – The Spring Open House for Prospective Students will take place following the Parish/School Mass and Coffee Hour on May 19, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. If you know of someone who is interested in a St. Chris education for their child, this is a GREAT opportunity for them to stop in and take a look around! Our knowledgeable tour guides will show visitors around the school, and Mrs. Clarke and many teachers will be available to answer any questions.  Parents are also welcome to escort any friends or family who are interested in attending the school…and give them the inside scoop on all things St. Chris! Pre-registration is not required for the Open House and it is on a drop-on basis, but parents are welcome to call Jackie Langenfeld for more information at 882-7442, ext. 114.

Are you on Facebook? If so, share our Open House event on your page or on any community group pages you belong to! You can find the event on our school Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/St.ChrisSchoolNH!

Share the good news – What YOU say about our school matters! Potential parents who are looking for a new school spend an enormous amount of time checking out reviews online and are looking to hear from other parents. Take a few minutes and leave a few positive words on any one (or more!) of these popular review websites:

Facebook (You’ll need to be signed in to Facebook first)

Private School Review

Great Schools

Yelp

Google Reviews (You’ll need to be signed in to a Google account first)

Private Tours – Know someone who can’t make the May 19 Open House?  We love giving private tours to any family interested in joining the St. Chris community! Private tours can be scheduled for most any time the school is open and we LOVE to have prospective students visit us for a Shadow Day in the classroom! To arrange, please have the prospective families call Jackie at 882-774, ext. 114.

Hot Lunch ENDS – Please make a note that the last day of Hot Lunch will be Friday, May 24. Therefore, as of May 28, all students must bring a bag lunch through the end of the year! There will be NO lunch food available, so students without a lunch will be required to call home to have one delivered.

THIS WEEK! Used Book Sale – Parent Group will be holding its annual Used Book and Uniform Sale on TOMORROW evening, May 9 and Friday, May 10! It’s not too late to donate used books or uniforms! Collection boxes are available in each classroom or donations can be dropped off in the lobby tomorrow morning. Donations of books, cd’s, dvd’s, and uniforms are most welcome! All students will be visiting the Book Sale on May 10 and parents are welcome, too! Books are 50¢ and all uniform pieces are $2.00. Volunteers are needed for the sale! Please click HERE to volunteer for set-up, sales, or clean-up! Thanks!

Summer Work Books -- Your child has worked hard and make great academic progress this summer…help him or her keep those skills sharp over the summer! The “Summer Books” program is an opportunity to provide your child with daily grade level review and practice. While not required, these books are highly suggested for all students…not only are they educational, but they are fun, too! One page per day provides a thorough academic review of the year.  To order, visit Summer Books online at summerbookcompany.com.

Hot Weather and Waters – The warm weather should be with us soon (we hope!), so parents are reminded to send their student to school every day with a water bottle to help them hydrate when they get warm. Water bottles in Mrs. Sheehan’s office are reserved for those students who are sick, so please do not rely on her to supply a bottle for your child.

Walk to School Day – Let’s practice healthy habits and have some fun by walking to school together on May 22! Gather at Sargent Ave Park at by 8:15 AM and walk to school with friends! Parents and friends are encouraged to walk with us!

Volunteer/Parent Brunch – As the year comes to a close, the teachers and staff of St. Chris would like to thank all of YOU for everything that you’ve done over the year to make St. Chris such a wonderful place! Please join us for an informal Volunteer/Parent Brunch prepared by our faculty/staff in the lobby immediately following our Walk to School Day event on May 22.  Don’t be modest…come on by for a cup of coffee, a light brunch buffet, and our thanks!

BBQ – Our annual FREE BBQ for all St. Chris families will take place on Friday, May 31! Plan on a great time featuring hamburgers, hotdogs and all the sides! This is one BIG party and you aren’t going to want to miss it! Food is served from 5:30 – 7:00 PM! Our ever-popular DJ, Ryan, will be here to spin the tunes! Volunteers for the event and food donations are needed! Please see the SignUp Genius HERE to help out!

NEW! After Care Hours on May 31 – Please note that After Care will end at 5:30 PM on Friday, May 31, so that teachers and families can attend the BBQ!

May Crowning -- Our traditional May Crowning will be held Friday, May 17 at 9:15 AM. The procession to the church will take place outside, weather permitting, and the ceremony will include the traditional crowning of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.  During the month of May, our small statue of Mary will be visiting every classroom in the school. Each morning, a class of students will process with Mary from their classroom to a new classroom while singing Marian songs!

Traveling Marian Statue – We have been blessed with a beautiful small statue of our Mother, Mary. This statue is meant to be a “traveling” icon, to be taken to different homes during Mary’s month of May for family devotionals. To sign up for a weekend, please click HERE!

Spring Concerts – Our PreK to 2nd grade Spring Concert was so cute yesterday! Now it’s time for the “big” kids…with grades 3-6 on Tuesday, May 14 at 10:00 (doors open at 9:30 AM) and the Fine Arts Concert on Monday, May 20 at 6:00 PM! Please note that these are Dress UP days for those students who are performing. Students should wear their Easter best!

NEW! Pediatric Incontinence: Solutions and Support – Do you know a child whose life revolves around either avoidance or excessive use of the restroom? Do they miss out on social opportunities due to discomfort, bladder or bowel issues? Incontinence can adversely affect toddlers to teenagers.
